Saturday 4th I was in Sheffield at Awesome Walls for the British Lead Climbing Championships. The day started with registration and then at about 10 o’clock we started climbing. I was 5th up on the first climb and I topped out on it. It had a really tricky cross over at the top and some crimpy holds to pull off but I did it. Then came the second climb, a fluro green one left of the headwall. It had a hard crux where a lot of people fell off going in to these two undercuts and I also fell off here and I made the audience sit up and wince when I fell three clips down and smashed my head in to the wall making my hat come off. I really enjoyed the day and it was cool catching up with people that I haven’t seen in ages. The Para-Cup was also taking place and the folks that were climbing are a real inspiration.
