EYC Warsaw, Poland 2016

After a busy last few weeks of exams it was time to go to Warsaw, Poland to compete in my first European Youth Cup of the season. Waking up very early the Team met at Stansted ready to fly out to Warsaw. We stayed in a hotel and my room shared with the rest of Boys A (George, Max and Tommy) was the width of the hotel, pretty awesome! The following day we saw some of the sights and got psyched to compete at the Bloco Climbing Gym. On the day of the comp the temperature was about 30°C and it was very sweaty during warm up! I had 1 hour 50 minutes to try 8 qualifying blocs. I flashed 1 climb and got the bonus holds on 6 other climbs. I’m really happy with that because it meant I was reading the problem sequences correctly and climbed consistently across a range of blocs. Just need to master the next step of getting to the top! After qualifying, GB had 4 finalists- Nath, Billy, Tara and Molly- which was amazing. The next day we went and cheered them all on as they competed, it was great fun to watch and cool to watch climbers from different countries again. We had the evening to go and visit the Old Town part of Warsaw which was really nice before we had to leave the hotel very early to return back to the UK.
