What an amazing trip away to L’Argentiere for the European Youth Bouldering Championship with the GB Team it was. We met at Luton ready to fly out to Lyon. From Lyon we travelled to L’Argentière-la-Bessée which was where the comp venue was. We stayed in an awesome gite which was massive and had a jacuzzi too. At the comp I got 4 tops and 6 bonuses. I found the climbs quite tricky because they were crimpy and sharp and they aren’t particularly something I practice on much. It wasn’t one of my better results but nevertheless I still went out and gave it my best shot and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rest of the trip was just awesome. 3 GB athletes made finals; Max, Aidan and Hamish. Watching them climb was so cool; the whole team was really behind them and their problems looked well good. Aidan became the European Champion with a gold medal and Hamish got silver in the Junior category. Everyone was so happy and my voice is still sore from cheering them on! The trip ended with a great hour in the swimming pool and plenty of fun on the slide followed by an ace barbecue with the Dutch and Irish Teams. Happy days.
